4-H Food Stand
The Food Stand is annual fundraiser put on and organized by the La Crosse County 4-H Food Stand Committee. The Food Stand is open for service during the La Crosse Interstate Fair in July and the Oktoberfest Races in September at the Fairgrounds in West Salem. All youth and clubs must participate at some point during the year by volunteering for a shift in the Food Stand in order to receive funding and scholarships for activities and events throughout the year by the 4-H Leaders Board. This is a fun and organized fundraiser!
Annual Meeting
The annual Food Stand meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at Hamilton Town Hall (N5105 Leonard St. N.) in West Salem. Each club must send at least 1 representative to attend. The agenda includes planning for the 2019 Fair. 2019 Wrap Up:
- The weather has a huge impact on Food Stand attendance as was seen at this year’s Fair. We had hot weather that kept people from eating and storms that forced them to take cover. This was experience in food sales at the Food Stand and closing of events early because of severe storms.
- This year’s profits were down about $10,000. Food Stand profits ended 2019 at $14, 921.61 while in 2018 they were about $25,000.
- The Pancake Breakfast served on Saturday morning stopped around 9:00 a.m. due to severe storms and evacuation to the storm shelter areas and not starting again. So, the Pancake Breakfast was down about $400 in profits compared to last year.
- The Food Stand Committee would like to give a special thanks to extra hands that stepped in on Sunday after 3:00 p.m. as we were short-handed in the Stand and the weather was beautiful so everyone came out on the last day. We sold out of all items we had open that day.
Oktoberfest Races
When: Thursday, October 3rd-Saturday, October 5th, 2019

This will be a joint effort between the La Crosse County Agricultural Society and La Crosse County 4-H. Your help is greatly needed, especially if you were not able to do your part over Fair week! We are looking for volunteers to help set-up and work the Thursday shift from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and the Saturday shift from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The Ag Society will be staffing the Friday shift from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. per contract. Cost: $6.00/person; $3.00 per youth age 10 & under

The 4-H Adult Leaders Association is sponsoring a pancake breakfast to be held in conjunction with the Oktoberfest Races. The Mindoro Lions will again supply their grills and labor in preparation. Both adults and youth volunteers are needed for set-up, serving and clean-up.
