Extension Farm Management Fridays webinar series begins January 8, 2021

Madison, Wis. – As the new year approaches, many people tend to re-evaluate their financial situation and decide if or how they need to make changes. This holds true for farm businesses, also. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension is hosting a series of webinars for farmers and agribusinesses to improve business profitability and lifestyles through informed decision-making. Farm Management Fridays webinars are a part of Extension’s Farm Ready Research winter programming for farmers and ag professionals. January topics and presenters include:

  • Jan. 8: Navigating Your Farm Business through 2021.
    • Learn about economic factors and considerations for the best path forward for your business while navigating an uncertain future. The presentation and discussion will be led by Mark Stephenson, UW Center for Dairy Profitability and Kevin Bernhardt, Extension Farm Management Specialist/UW-Platteville Professor; and moderated by Katie Wantoch, Dunn County Extension Ag Educator.

  • Jan. 15: In it for the long haul – Cash flow during a Crisis.
    • Planning your cash flow is essential, and challenging during uncertain times of the ongoing covid19 crisis. Kevin Bernhardt, Extension Farm Management Specialist/UW River Falls Professor and Heather Schlesser, Marathon County Extension Ag Educator will discuss important cash flow analysis considerations, concerns and tools to help.

  • Jan. 22: Farm-gate Economic Outlook forum.
    • This webinar will focus on farm scale economic outlook and actions for farms in 2021 with a panel discussion by Extension Farm Management Specialist: Paul Mitchell, Ag and Applied Economics & Renk Agribusiness Institute, Mark Stephenson, UW Center for Dairy Profitability, Brenda Boetel, UW River Falls, and moderator Jim Versweyveld, Walworth County Extension Ag Educator.

A sample week of Extension agricultural webinars begins on Tuesdays with Badger Dairy Insight from 1-2:30 p.m. and Wisconsin Beef Special Edition from 7-8:30 p.m.; Wednesdays focus on Small Ruminants from 7:30 – 9 p.m.; and then it’s Farm Management Fridays from 11 a.m. – noon.
