Livestock Project

For youth interested in exhibiting and selling livestock auction animals (Beef, Sheep, and Swine), please see below for requirements, forms, dates to know, and other information.

  • BEEF, SHEEP, SWINE & GOATS and LIVESTOCK AUCTION PARTICIPANTS:
    • Exhibitors in these projects are required to complete YQCA training and participate in two (2) educational events in order to participate in the livestock auction at the County Fair.
    • Examples of an education session include:
      • Attend one (1) La Crosse Youth Livestock (LYL) meeting.
      • 2024 Carcass Shows – there were 2
      • Pork Producer’s Annual Meeting
      • Pork Producer’s Twilight Meeting
      • Jackpot Shows
      • Webinars with UW-Madison or others
      • Food for America (4th grade+ volunteers)
      • Showmanship Clinics
      • Anything educational that pertains to your livestock project.
    • If attending an educational session that attednance is not being taken by an LYL representative, you must complete and submit an Education Session Form (downloadable pdf, fillable pdf) to lacrosseyouthlivestock@gmail.com
    • Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) Fact Sheet and YQCA Login Page to take online training or test out for certification. Remember to save your certification of completion and send it to lacrosseyouthlivestock@gmail.com.
